Crescent Bannerstone

When it comes to 5,000 year old Archaic period artifacts, this is one of the best (if not the best) Knobbed Crescent Bannerstones we have yet had come to the auction block.

Crescent Bannerstone

This bannerstone has exceptional design and craftsmanship, perfect condition with no damage (other than one small shallow plow strike) and no restoration. This incredible artifact measures 7 1/4" long and is made from highly banded glacial slate. It has been in the same family as the person who found it 100 years ago and has never been offered for sale until now.

This artifact has been in the same family since found in 1925, and has been handed down from generation to generation. Found in 1925 by James "Barney" Kennedy near Bellefontaine, Logan Co., Ohio and was consigned to auction by his grandson, James Kennedy. This artifact has incredible "deep" natural patina and excellent mineral deposits on many locations of the surface. This is a rare and highly collectible relic.
