Exceptional history on this artifact - from George Washington's plantation! Beautifully styled 4 1/4" Full Grooved Hardstone Axe with excellent overall polish in nice condition. Original tag is signed by Mr. Boardman and reads found on original Mount Vernon Plantation in the field immediately in front of present entrance to enclosed reservation. Obtained from finder July 1918 . Mr. Boardman whose collection this came from lived in Washington D.C. and collected artifacts between 1908 – 1938. From the collectio of Walter Dudkewitz.
