Rare for area Pictured! 2 3/4" Marine shell gorget found by Harlan Olson on his farm in Brookings Co. South Dakota. Pictured in Lar Hothem's Rare and Unusual Indian Artifacts on page 317. Lar notes this item probably originated from the Gulf of Mexico and would have traveled 1300 to 1800 miles in prehistoric times to reach the area were was found. .
