5/8" heavily patinated Button. Columbia River.
Phoenix Button. Heavily patinated Button found by Dewey Schmid on the mid-Columbia. No. 14 Phoenix Button small disc type which measures 5/8" style #2. Phoenix Buttons were made in Britain for King Christophe of Haiti. These military buttons were brought to the Columbia River as trade goods before 1835 by Boston merchant Nathaniel Wyeth. This button was found by Dewey prior to 1955. Dewey was a member of the old Oregon Archeological Society.
