Truly exceptional flaking on this 4 15/16" obsidian Nightfire Knife found in the vicinity of Klamath Falls Lake County Oregon. Large and extremely well made with beautiful ribbon flaking. Nightfire points are believed to be the earliest version of the Northern Side Notch. They were named for Nightfire Island where they were found at the lowest levels of occupation by Carrol B Howe. Carrol was a member of the O.A.S. and author of 2 books about the Modoc Klamath Indians of Southern Oregon.
