Sale Highlight! Large 3 13/16" Paleo Cougar Mountain - Jasper with excellent flaking. 2 COA's.

Sale Highlight! Large 3 13/16" Paleo Cougar Mountain made from Jasper with excellent flaking. This is a beautiful example of a very rare Great Basin – Columbia River Plateau area point. Cougar Mountains are related to Haskett points and are considered to be the knife form of the Haskett. Cougar Mountain and Haskett points are contemporaneous with Clovis in the West. In obsidian hydration testing conducted by Great Basin Associates and performed by Sonoma State University a majority of the Haskett – Cougar Mountain points predated Clovis examples from the same areas and the Great Basin. The dates for Cougar Mountain – Haskett range from 12100-10500 BP. This point was found on the Ray Simmons field in 1960 near Pasco Washington by Shirley Twehus. Shirley was a member of the mid Columbia Archaeological Society. The Ben Stermer COA which accompanies this point states this is a fine example of this type exhibiting excellent workmanship . This is a rare opportunity to own an exceptional Paleo point from the Columbia River. Ex. Richard Lang Gordon Erspamer collections. Stermer and Jackson COA's.
